Regent Of North Penajam Paser Entangled In OTT, KPK Explores Connection With National Capital Project

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is investigating the modus operandi of accepting bribes allegedly carried out by North Penajam Paser Regent Abdul Gafur Mas'ud until he was eventually caught in a red-handed operation (OTT). Including, the possibility of receiving bribes related to the state capital project (IKN).

"Regarding the mode, motive, and background of the alleged corruption in the arrest, of course, the KPK team is currently in the process of investigating it," said Acting KPK Spokesperson for Enforcement Ali Fikri when contacted by VOI, Thursday, January 13.

For information, there are 11 people including Abdul Gafur who were entangled in the silent operation that was carried out on Wednesday, January 12 yesterday. Currently, they are undergoing further investigation.

Meanwhile, Deputy Chairperson of the KPK, Nurul Ghufron, revealed that the arrests were related to bribes and gratuities. However, he has not provided more details regarding the construction of the alleged corruption.

"The KPK yesterday actively arrested state officials in the North Penajam Paser area on suspicion of accepting bribes and gratuities," said Ghufron.

He revealed that this action has also succeeded in finding some money in rupiah denominations. However, it is not clear how much the money will be because it is still being calculated by the investigators.

Furthermore, the anti-corruption commission asked the public to be patient because the investigators are currently working. "We are still conducting an examination for 1 x 24 hours to clarify the situation," said Ghufron.

"KPK asks the public to be patient and give the team the opportunity to work on investigating this case. We will present it in a more comprehensive manner later," concluded Ghufron.
