Komnas Perempuan Was Expelled By Commission III Of The DPR, Because It Was 'cheating' When It Was Late For A Meeting

JAKARTA - Deputy Chairman of Commission III of the Indonesian House of Representatives Desmond Junaidi Mahesa expelled Komnas Perempuan from leaving the meeting room during a working meeting with the National Human Rights Commission, Thursday, January 13.

Komnas Perempuan was expelled by Desmond because he was almost 30 minutes late for the meeting and entered without permission.

Based on the agenda, the meeting will start at 10.00 WIB. However, Komnas Perempuan came to the meeting room at around 10.29 WIB.

As the chair of the meeting, Desmond was not pleased with the delay of Komnas Perempuan. In addition, Komnas Perempuan came in without being invited.

"Sorry, Komnas Perempuan, please leave, we have a meeting at 10:00 WIB. Please come out," said Desmond, Thursday, January 13.

Desmond assessed that Komnas Perempuan did not respect and follow existing ethics. "You don't respect the quorum. Because you are late, please go outside first. There is no etiquette to sit down, you should have permission first. Please get out," said Desmond.

Responding to Desmond's instructions to leave the Commission III meeting room, the Chair of Komnas Perempuan Andy Yentriyan clarified that previously they had attended the online meeting even though they were late. "I have permission from the chairman," said Andy. However, Desmond did not want to accept the excuse and immediately asked Komnas HAM to leave the room.

"Yes, being late is your problem, not ours," said Desmond. When Andy wanted to continue his speech, the Gerindra politician still wouldn't listen.

"No. I want to say that I had followed him through. Then there was a problem that we couldn't avoid. But I've been following since the beginning," said Andy.

"No, no. Please come out. Indeed, you do not respect the meeting at 10.00 WIB. I invite you to come out," said Desmond.

The decision was finally obeyed followed by an apology from Komnas Perempuan for their delay.

"I'm going out. Thank you," Andy said.

"Next time, the time will come and don't jump right in. We should have told the secretariat whether we can enter, we can just sit down. This is a parliamentary ethic," said Desmond again.

"Once again we're sorry," Andy said.

"Okay, next time we will fix it together. Please, thank you," closed Desmond.
