The Pandemic Doesn't Affect Man City's Pockets, During The 2020-2021 Season Recorded The Highest Revenue Of IDR 11.1 Trillion

JAKARTA - Defending Premier League champions Manchester City posted the highest revenue for the 2020-2021 season. They again recorded a profit even though most of the matches were played in empty stadiums due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The club recorded total revenue of £569.8 million for the year ended June 30, the club said in its annual report published Wednesday local time.

This figure beats the previous record of big profits of 535.2 million pounds in the 2018-19 season before the pandemic.

It is the third time in five seasons City have breached the £500m threshold, while their profit has reached £2.4m.

City won the league and Carabao Cup in 2020-2021, in addition to reaching the Champions League final and FA Cup semi-finals.

The club's matchday revenue was down 98 percent over the previous year but this was offset by revenue from other posts driven by broadcast revenue which rose 56 percent from a year earlier to 297 million pounds.

Commercial revenue rose 10 percent to 271.7 million pounds thanks to new partners such as Cadbury and AxiTrader.

"From a business perspective, we are pleased to be able to return to profit after successfully overcoming the revenue challenges caused by the pandemic," said chief executive Ferran Soriano as quoted by Antara.

"COVID-19 has not stopped us and we continue to grow, innovate and develop new ideas... We hope that the challenges related to the pandemic from the last two seasons continue to ease."

City posted a net loss of £126 million during the 2019-20 season after posting a record profit of more than £10 million a year earlier.

City are top of the Premier League standings with 53 points after 21 games. They host Chelsea who are in second place and 10 points behind on Saturday this week.
