3 Meters Flood In Banjar Regency, South Kalimantan Inundated 2,008 Houses

MARTAPURA - Floods with a height of up to 3 meters in Banjar Regency, South Kalimantan, have submerged at least 2,008 houses.

Based on the latest report from the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Banjar Regency on Wednesday night, apart from Pengaron, there is Simpang Empat District which is also still affected by flooding with a water level of 70 centimeters.

The number of residents affected by the flood was 2,215 families (KK) and a total of 3,727 residents who had evacuated from eight villages in Pengaron District.

The Head of BPBD for Banjar Regency, Muhamad Irwan Kumar, said that the flood emergency alert status had been set as the water level rose at the monitoring point in the upstream area of the Riam Kiwa River sub-watershed.

"Flood-prone areas are asked to be vigilant given the potential for rain to occur in the next few days," he said, quoted by Antara, Wednesday, January 12.

Meanwhile, the Commander of Korem 101/Antasari Brigadier General Firmansyah instructed his staff to deploy personnel and supporting facilities to assist in the evacuation of flood-affected residents.

According to Danrem 101/Antasari, the main thing at this time is public safety. Do not let the delay in the evacuation process can result in casualties.

"I have ordered the Kodim 1006/Banjar and surrounding units to go all out into the field. The TNI must be present in the midst of disasters experienced by the community, but still coordinate with BPBD as a command in flood management," he said.
