Collaborating With DMI, BSI Prepares 5 Mosques In NTB To Be Examples Of People's Economic Empowerment
JAKARTA - Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI) has prepared five mosques in West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) to become a model for the economic empowerment of the people through a financing scheme with a sharia system.
Area Manager of BSI Bali-Nusa Tenggara (Nusra) Sukma Dwie Priardie said the pilot program for the economic empowerment of the mosque-based community would be implemented in 2022 in collaboration with the Indonesian Mosque Council (DMI) NTB.
"We have collaborated with DMI NTB, later the institution will recommend which mosques are used as pilots," he said in Mataram, Antara, Wednesday, January 12.
Through this pilot mosque, his party will carry out programs that can strengthen the position of the mosque and provide even stronger benefits to the congregation and the surrounding community.
The congregation of the mosque and the surrounding community will be empowered with a people's business credit (KUR) financing scheme that is different from conventional banks, such as there is no penalty for returning the financing sooner than the due date.
In addition, said Sukma, if there are mosque congregations that are not worthy according to banking analysis, they can be given the opportunity to get a cheap financing scheme in collaboration with amil zakat institutions.
"The financing value starts from a minimum of IDR 1 million without any margin with a 12-time payback period without any fees," he said.
Another thing to do, he said, is to promote easy, fast and secure non-cash payment transactions using the Indonesian Standard Quick Response Code (QRIS) application.
Sukma added that by using QRIS, his party will also work with mosques to create supporting programs, such as joint recitations in which there are simultaneous alms activities.
BSI will also encourage the pilot mosque to become a service center for economic community empowerment.
"For example, there is a Ramadan event, there is a market that is encouraged, and we are ready to provide assistance and strengthen mosque congregations who have creative economic businesses," he said.
