Dozens Of Semarang Prison Prisoners Can Assimilate

SEMARANG - A total of 51 inmates at the Class 1 prison in Semarang, Central Java, have been assimilated to serve the rest of their sentences in their respective homes.

The Head of the Semarang Pastry, Supriyanto, said that the dozens of inmates had met the administrative requirements to serve the rest of their sentences in their respective homes.

According to him, this conditional release is one of the efforts to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in prisons.

The rules regarding prisoners who are entitled to assimilation, he said, are regulated in the Minister of Law and Human Rights Regulation Number 43 of 2021 concerning Conditions for Granting Assimilation, Conditional Release, Leave Before Release, and Conditional Leave for Convicts and Children for the Prevention and Control of the Spread of COVID-19. 19. The criteria for prisoners who are entitled to assimilation, he continued, include not being convicts of drug cases, corruption, terrorism, murder, robbery, decency, crimes against state security, and human rights violations.

"Not a recidivist or not being sentenced to more than one case," he said in an official statement quoted by Antara, Wednesday, January 12.

The prisoners who were released, he said, were not allowed to leave their homes during the assimilation period.

"Before leaving the prison, these inmates have signed a stamped statement," he said.
