Citarum River Embankment Landslides Hit 3 Residents' Houses In Bekasi, BPBD Performs Temporary Repairs

BEKASI - The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Bekasi Regency, West Java repaired the Citarum River embankment that collapsed and hit three houses in RT 005/03 Kampung Tapak Serang, Lenggahjaya Village, Branchbungin District.

The Head of BPBD Bekasi Regency Henri Lincoln said that the repair of the landslide embankment was temporary by placing sacks filled with soil right in the area that experienced the landslide.

"To avoid further landslides, we put sacks filled with soil to be able to hold the foundation of the embankment," he said in Cikarang, West Java, as reported by Antara, Wednesday, January 12.

In addition to repairing the temporary embankment, the Bekasi Regency BPBD is currently also cleaning up the remnants of the avalanche at the scene.

Henri explained that three houses were damaged as a result of the incident that occurred last Tuesday night. The incident began when rain with moderate to heavy intensity flushed the area around 23.00 WIB.

"The rain caused the soil in the embankment area to move, causing landslides," he said.

Three of Naseh's houses were slightly damaged and destroyed in the kitchen, while Kasum's house was moderately damaged on the back wall.

Another house, belonging to Nata's family, suffered the most severe damage where the foundation of the back roof collapsed and hit the building.

"Luckily there were no casualties in the incident. We are still estimating the total loss," said Henri.
