BENGKULU - The Bengkulu City Health Office said that currently there is one female patient aged 13 years who has been confirmed positive for COVID-19, which is suspected to be of the Omicron type.

Head of the Disease Control and Eradication Division of the Bengkulu City Health Office, Nelli Hartati said, currently his party is still waiting for the results of the sample test conducted by the Ministry of Health.

"We have sent a swab sample of the patient to the center to find out whether the patient is infected with Omicron or not," Nelli said in Bengkulu as reported by Antara, Wednesday, January 12.

While waiting for the results from the center, his party also conducts tracing/tracking of anyone who has been in contact with the patient.

If from the tracking results it is known that the patient went to school, the school will be closed for five days. However, at this time the school where the patient studied was still carrying out teaching and learning activities as usual while waiting for the results of the examination from the center.

Nelli continued, before being tested positive the victim had a high fever and complained of difficulty breathing and when the PCR test was carried out it was found that the patient was positive for COVID-19.

Based on information, the transmission came from family members who came from Jakarta to Bengkulu.

"Not long ago, the child had a fever and complained of shortness of breath and the patient did not have a positive history of COVID-19," he said.
