Could Nintendo Release A Switch Pro Console Next Year?

JAKARTA - Nintendo is rumored to be releasing a new variant of the Switch console soon. With a number of improvements, this portable hybrid console will go on sale in early 2021.

Launching from the inverse page, the latest generation of the Nintendo Switch will have 4K graphics capabilities and greater computing power than the previous model. It is likely that this new console will be a 'Pro' version of the Nintendo Switch variant, which already has a Lite variant.

The news about the presence of the Switch Pro has actually been circulating since the end of 2019. But this rumor surfaced again in January 2020 after Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa gave a grid that the new Switch version would not launch before the end of the year.

Judging from the two Switch models that have been on the market, this hybrid console was built using the Nvidia Tegra X1 SoC. Even though the manufacturer and specifications have been used for more than five years, the Nintendo Switch still provides a pleasant gaming experience.

If these rumors are true, then this is the first time Nintendo has provided a significant performance upgrade for the Switch. Moreover, mobile processor technology has become increasingly sophisticated, so there is plenty of room to boost Switch performance.

Along with the planned launch of the latest version of Switch. Nintendo is also reportedly bringing lots of games from a number of third-party studios as well as original games to be released for this new console.

Citing a Bloomberg report, Nintendo has not commented on information regarding the 'Pro' version of the Switch. In addition, Nintendo has not announced any big games for this year's Christmas holiday season, because the public is more focused on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X.

So far, the Nintendo Switch has become a popular game console with a standard model which has sold 61.44 million units since its release in 2017. In 2020, Switch is still selling well with its exclusive game Animal Crossing: New Horizon, which encourages millions of gamers to buy this console during the coronavirus pandemic.
