Police Arrest Former Police Ecstasy Smugglers From The Netherlands

JAKARTA - The Directorate of Narcotics Crime, Bareskrim Polri thwarted an attempt to smuggle ecstasy-type drugs from the Netherlands to Makassar. In this case four people were named as suspects. One of them is a former member of the National Police

"The team made arrests of the perpetrators. The first four suspects HR alias A were former or former police," said Head of Public Relations Division of the Police, Kombes Ahmad Ramadhan to reporters, Thursday, August 27.

HR, whose real name is Herianto, is a former member of the National Police who was fired for a drug case. Previously, he served in the Sabhara unit of the South Sulawesi Police. Meanwhile, the other three suspects are prisoners. They are still serving their prison terms at the Penitentiary (Lapas).

"The second suspect is SN alias DY, a prisoner of Makassar prison, the third HS alias H, a prisoner at the Sungguminasa Narcotics Prison and the four H who are languishing in Sungguminasa Prison," said Ramadhan.

In the effort to smuggle 5 thousand ecstasy pills, the three suspects who are convicts act as controllers from inside the prison. Meanwhile, HA or Herianto will pick up narcotics from the goods expedition.

On the same occasion, Deputy Director of the Criminal Action Directorate for Narcotics, Bareskrim Polri, Kombes Wawan Munarwan, said that this case began when his party received information about drug smuggling on July 31. Thus, additional information can be traced and obtained if the smuggling is carried out through an expedition service at Soekarno Hatta Airport.

"The package in the form of a blue dongker suitcase was X-Rayed, so that there was a suspicious object on the wall of the suitcase, and after opening it turned out to be filled with ecstasy with a gross weight of 2.29 kg," said Wawan.

Ecstasy is disguised by being put in a wedding dress. The sender of the package is known to have the initials JC who is in the Netherlands and is intended for A in Makassar, South Sulawesi.

With this evidence, development was carried out. Until August 4, suspect Herianto contacted the expedition's office and asked where the package was.

"The expedition asked the caller to pay the import tax fee. Finally, suspect H paid the requested fee through an account," said Wawan.

After the administrative process was complete, Herianto asked that the package be sent to the Panakukang area, Makassar city. But the address was not found. So, the expedition brought the package back to the warehouse for later delivery to other areas according to Herianto's request.

However, six days later, the man with the initials R came to the expedition's office with the aim of retrieving the drug package. However, the expedition officer refused because he could not show his KTP.

So, R was immediately arrested by officers and asked to show the party who ordered. To the police, R admitted that he was only ordered to take the package without knowing what was inside.

"From the examination it is known that H alias A (Herianto) was ordered by S alias Doyok to take the package," said Wawan.

Then, development was carried out and succeeded in securing two other suspects, HS and H who were prisoners.
