TNI AL Member Who Beat Ojol Driver Was Arrested At POM Headquarters
JAKARTA - An individual TNI AL soldier, Major BH, who abused an online motorcycle taxi driver (ojol) in Pamulang, South Tangerang, Banten, was detained at the POM TNI AL Headquarters at TNI AL Base III/Jakarta.
"The Navy officer has been detained since Monday (10/1) at the Navy's POM Headquarters," said the Head of the Navy Information Service, TNI First Admiral Julius Widjojono, quoted by Antara, Tuesday, January 11.
The abuse of an online motorcycle taxi driver who was carrying his child caused the victim to suffer bruises on the face of the right temple. "The Navy is strongly committed to taking firm action against its soldiers who are proven to have violated the law," he said.
He emphasized that the person was currently being processed by law and his status as a suspect. The investigation into the suspect is ongoing and will be processed as soon as possible.
"If it has been proven to have violated, there is not a single member of the Indonesian Navy who is guilty of escaping the legal snares. This issue needs to be followed up," he said.
The Chief of Staff of the Indonesian Navy, Admiral TNI Yudo Margono, separately, has also emphasized that no soldier will escape the law if he is proven to have committed a crime.
It has become a commitment from the TNI institutions starting from the TNI commander and subordinates that the wrong soldiers will be prosecuted.
The abuse by Indonesian Navy personnel began when the victim and her child were riding in a two-wheeled vehicle, around 17.40 WIB on Sunday, January 9. He met with Indonesian Navy personnel who used four-wheeled vehicles in a position next to the road or from two opposite directions.
A mid-level TNI AL officer asked them to stop and move the vehicle aside, then a misunderstanding occurred which led to the persecution.
