Attorney General Affirms Commitment To Support BUMN 'Cleanup'
JAKARTA - Attorney General Sanitiar Burhanuddin, emphasized the Attorney General's commitment to support the efforts of the Ministry of SOEs to carry out a 'clean up' in the ministry, especially against perpetrators of corruption.
"We always coordinate in order to take steps. However, the synergy between us (the Attorney General's Office, ed.) and SOEs must be maintained," he said as quoted by Antara, Tuesday, January 11.
The statement was made after the Attorney General met with the Minister of SOEs, Erick Thohir. During the meeting, Burhanuddin revealed that he had three discussions with Erick Thohir.
"What we talked about earlier was the restructuring of Garuda Indonesia, the second was Garuda's report for the purchase of the ATR 72-600, and also, this is the main thing, in order for us to support the Ministry of SOEs," he said.
Previously, the synergy between the Attorney General's Office and the Ministry of SOEs succeeded in uncovering corruption cases of PT Asuransi Jiwasraya and PT Asabri (Persero). This time, the two institutions will establish close cooperation to uncover cases involving PT Garuda Indonesia (Persero).
Meanwhile, Erick Thohir emphasized the synergy between the Attorney General's Office and the Ministry of SOEs not only to arrest and punish the individuals involved, but also to improve the overall administration of the Ministry of SOEs.
"In accordance with the program we encourage, the transformation and clean-up of SOEs," he said.
In addition to discussing the government's plan to restructure Garuda Indonesia, he also provided evidence related to the procurement of ATR 72-600 aircraft.
"We submitted the investigative audit evidence, so it's not an accusation because we are no longer accusing each other, but facts must be given," he said.
