Vincenzo Italiano Can't Stop Thinking About The Ability Of Firoentina Who Was Slain By Torino 4-0

JAKARTA - Fiorentina were forced to swallow a bitter result in the match against Torino in the 21st week of the 2021/2022 Italian League because they were defeated by a landslide score of 0-4. For the poor result, coach Vincenzo Italiano admitted he was confused by the team's performance which he said could not be explained.

The Torino vs Fiorentina match was originally held on Sunday, January 9, but was postponed to Monday night due to quarantine orders due to the COVID-19 outbreak in the squad.

Regardless of the schedule change, Torino who was lined up to host this match was able to show dominance over La Viola. The proof, they can win 4-0 through goals Wilfried Singo, Antonio Sanabria, and brace Josip Brekalo.

Seeing how Torino ransacked his team's defenses so ferociously, Italiano couldn't stop thinking about the abilities of his team.

He felt that Fiorentina's appearance this time was really inexplicable. The mentality of his team fell apart in the early stages of the match.

"I don't understand why we put on this inexplicable performance," the Italiano coach was quoted as saying by Football Italia.

"The first half was very bad and we have never seen anything like this in terms of concentration or approach. I saw the opposite of our usual mentality," he continued.

Although he did not understand the performance of his team this time, Italiano still tried to find positive things from this defeat. He hopes this result will be a lesson for his team to perform even better in other matches.

"Maybe it (the defeat) will be useful and bring us back to earth (to reality). We play again in three days and I hope to see a very different Fiorentina," he hoped.

"I really didn't expect this performance. I hope it's just a small mistake and we can get back on track soon," continued Italiano.

The match against Torino which ended in bitterness itself was recorded as their first match in 2022. Because the match planned for last Thursday with Udinese was canceled due to another COVID-19 outbreak.

This bitter result makes Fiorentina still stuck in seventh position in the standings with 32 points. Meanwhile, Torino, who earned the full three points, was further in ninth position by securing 28 points.
