“We have sterilized the TKP (the crime scene) and are currently conducting a sweep to check whether there are other explosives at the explosion site and its surroundings. Explosives found

After conducting a search at the scene, the Jibom Unit of the Banten Police found three types of explosives suspected to be the main cause of the explosion at Ulung's house.

"We were ordered to conduct a sweep around the TKP (the crime scene) to determine whether there were objects that could still explode or not. Based on the search, we found several materials suspected of being explosives." Head of Jibom Detachment Gegana Satbrimob Banten Police AKP Edison based on a video received by VOI, Monday 10 January.

After successfully finding objects suspected of being explosives, officers stated that the crime scene was sterile.

“This crime scene is already sterile from objects that can explode. It is safe and can be used by the Inafis team in this jurisdiction." said Edison.

However, Edison did not specify the names of the explosives he found because it was not in his authority to explain the names.

“For explosives, we cannot explain the names because it is the authority of Labfor to convey the names. We're just confirming that it's an explosive." Edison explained.

Three raw materials that cause explosion

From the series of sterilizations carried out by the Jibom Unit of the Gegana Satbrimob Detachment of the Banten Police and the TKP of the Inafis Unit of the Ditreskrimum of the Banten Police, several small plastic packages of flash powder, sulfur powder, potassium, including crushing tools and filters were found.

"According to the results of the joint analysis and evaluation at the end of last night, it can be concluded that the source of the explosion came from the explosives used to make fish bombs. The effect of the explosion tends to be low explosive, not the type of explosive made by terrorist networks," explained the Head of Public Relations of the Banten Police, Kombes Pol. Shinto Silitonga to VOI, Monday, January 10, evening.

Not terrorist related

Shinto explained, the explosion was not related to terrorists. Because, Shinto continued, his party did not find power and initiator when carrying out sterilization, as is usually used by terrorism groups which always combine power, initiator, explosive, switching, casing and counter in every bomb-making action.

"From the character of the explosives found at the crime scene, there was no power and no initiator, so it was concluded that the explosives were not bombs for terrorist acts, but were used to catch fish with explosives," explained Shinto.

The results of the autopsy on the body of the explosion victim

According to the results of the autopsy which took place on Monday, January 10, the forensic doctor from the Banten Regional Police Biddokkes did not find any burr, nails and other hazardous materials on the victim's body.

"The forensic doctor who carried out the autopsy believes that from the impact of explosives on the human body, there are no hazardous materials commonly used in bombs by terrorist groups," said Shinto Silitonga.

The investigation is currently ongoing to be able to answer why explosives were found in the house at the victim's house. As a result of the explosion, Ulung's wife, Lina (40), was seriously injured along with her child.

Criminal Records around the crime scene

Investigation of the fish bomb explosion that occurred at Ulung's house made it clear that in the vicinity of the location there were a number of names that were targeted by operations (TO) over the case of using fish bombs.

"From the criminal record of the Banten Police Ditpolairud, there are several names that were targeted for operations (TO) due to the use of fish bombs around the crime scene. We will investigate this information so that we can identify the perpetrators who supplied the explosives to the scene.” Shinto insisted.
