2.1 Million Honorary Workers Also Receive Salary Assistance Of IDR 600,000

JAKARTA - The government continues to strive to help people survive the COVID-19 pandemic with various programs issued. One of them, assistance with salaries or wages of IDR 2.4 million, for workers or laborers who have wages below IDR 5 million.

Initially, the target recipients of this assistance were 13.8 million workers or private employees. However, along the way the target was expanded not only for private workers, but also for honorary workers with a total target of 15.7 million.

The mechanism for distributing salary subsidy assistance is provided to workers or employees in the amount of Rp.600,000 per month for four months, or a total of Rp.2.4 million which will be given every two months. This means that in one disbursement, workers will receive a subsidy of Rp1.2 million.

BP Jamsostek President Director Agus Susanto said, based on the data he had, out of 15.7 million beneficiaries there were 2.1 million non-honorary civil servants (ASN) who were entitled to direct cash assistance (BLT) worth IDR 2.4 million. the.

"The total number of non ASN (honorary) workers registered at BP Jamsostek is 2.1 million. This is only part of the non ASN registered, there are still many who have not registered," he said, during a meeting with Commission IX of the DPR and Minister of Manpower Ida Fauziyah, Wednesday. , 26 August.

Agus explained that the provision of wage subsidy assistance to honorary staff is a development from the previous program which was limited to private workers. This assistance is given with consideration, many of these workers also have incomes below Rp. 5 million and are registered as active participants of BP Jamsostek.

Furthermore, Agus said, the temporary workers in question are teachers, security guards, and drivers in ministries and institutions to local governments.

"Those who have not (registered with BP Jamsostek) are certainly not included, but what we need to understand is that being a BP Jamsostek participant is a must for wage earners," he said.

On the same occasion, the Minister of Manpower Ida Fauziyah confirmed that initially this program only targeted private workers or laborers whose salaries were below IDR 5 million.

However, said Ida, after his party coordinated with other ministries and agencies, it was decided that the target target for this assistance program was expanded. Including assistance to honorarium workers.

Ida said that the honorary workers are those who are not private employees. For example, honorary teachers in the Ministry of Religion, Ministry of Education, central and local government officials.

"We accommodate non-PNS government employees whose wages average under Rp. 5 million, they do not receive the 13th salary," said Ida.
