East Java Forms A Special Team To Hunt Down Offerings Kickers On Mount Semeru

SURABAYA - The East Java Regional Police formed a team to chase a man who kicked an offering at the Mount Semeru disaster site, Lumajang Regency.

"We have formed a team to search for the perpetrators," said Head of Public Relations of the East Java Police, Kombes Gatot Repli Handoko in Surabaya, Monday, January 10.

He said his party was now conducting a search and monitoring of social media that uploaded the video.

Regarding the identity of the alleged volunteer, whether it was a local resident or a newcomer, Kombes Pol Gatot could not explain in more detail.

He appealed to the community and volunteers to maintain conduciveness around the disaster area, including Mount Semeru.

"Because so far Lumajang has started to be peaceful, starting to be safe, and starting to get good. Don't let it be damaged by videos containing SARA and we must respect the local wisdom of the area," he said.

Meanwhile, the eldest daughter of the 4th President Abdurrahman Wahid, Alissa Wahid on Twitter @AlissaWahid tweeted, "We welcome people who believe in offerings that they are not allowed. However, forcing such beliefs on those who believe in it is not allowed."

"It's really troublesome to meet models like this. It's really hard to understand that the world doesn't just belong to the group," he tweeted.

Previously, a video of a person wearing a black vest cursing the use of offerings in the Mount Semeru area. In the video, he throws offerings in front of him, some even being kicked by the man.

Lumajang Regent Thoriqul Haq admitted that he was disappointed with the behavior of the man who kicked the offerings on Mount Semeru and it went viral on social media.

According to him, the man did not take care of his duties and instead violated the values that exist in the local community around Mount Semeru.

"Whatever the motive, of course I am disappointed. It violates the values that we live side by side with all religions, all tribes in Lumajang," said Cak Thoriq, his nickname.
