Bank Indonesia: Consumer Confidence Index Remains Strong Despite Declining In December 2022

JAKARTA - Bank Indonesia said that consumer optimism for economic conditions remained strong in December 2021. This was reflected in the December 2021 Consumer Confidence Index (IKK) of 118.3 or in the optimistic area.

Head of the Communications Department, Erwin Haryono, said that the book for the last month of last year was relatively stable compared to the index in November 2021, which was 118.5.

"Consumer optimism remains strong in December 2021, supported by consumer perceptions of increasing current economic conditions," he said in an official statement, Monday, January 10.

Erwin revealed, on a quarterly basis, the IKK in the fourth quarter of 2021 was recorded at 116.8, an increase compared to 84.3 in the third quarter of 2021, and 89.2 in the fourth quarter of 2020.

"This increasing trend is mainly related to consumer perceptions of current income and the availability of jobs," he said.

Meanwhile, consumer expectations for future economic conditions remain at an optimistic level.

"This right can be seen from the index level of more than 100, although not as high as the previous month," Erwin concluded
