Vardy In Leicester To 36 Years

JAKARTA - Leicester City extended their sharp attacking contract, Jamie Vardy. The England striker will be at the King Power Stadium until 2023.

This contract means that Vardy, who is currently 33 years old, will be in the Leicester squad for at least 36 years.

Last 2019/20 season, Vardy made many brilliant records with Leicester. One of them became the Premier League's top scorer through the 23 goals he scored.

He also became the 29th player to surpass the 100 goals scored in the Premier League in July and became the Player of the Year for both Leicester's squad and supporters at the end of the season.

Vardy, who has scored 129 goals in 309 appearances, is currently ranked fourth in Leicester's top scorer, of which 103 have been scored in the highest caste.

"The journey I have gone through with this club is difficult to describe and even though I have accomplished a lot I know I still have something to help this team achieve even more," Vardy said on the club's official website quoted by Antara, Thursday, August 27.

"I am delighted to be able to play in front of the fans at the King Power Stadium and of course it will be great to continue this journey. We are a great team and I believe we can get even better, I can't wait to see what we can achieve in the next few years," he added .

Vardy was brought in by Leicester from the Fleetwood Town amateur team in 2012. Since then he has positioned himself as the best striker in England.

He became an important figure when Leicester won promotion to the Premier League in 2013/14 through the 16 goals he scored.

Then in 2015/16 when Leicester lived the cinderella story of winning the Premier League title, Vardy scored 24 goals including 11 consecutive games which saw him surpass Ruud van Nistelrooy's record.
