Flood Victims In Nimboran District Receive Koramil Assistance 1701-11/ Jayapura

JAYAPURA - Koramil 1701-11/Jayapura helps people affected by floods in Nimbokrang Village, Nimbokrang District, Kab. Jayapura, Papua Province, Sunday 9 January.

Heavy rainfall throughout the night caused the Grime River and Aso River which cross the Nimbokrang District to overflow and flood several points and residential roads with flood heights ranging from 100 cm to 150 cm.

Danramil 1701-11/Nimboran Captain Inf Kadir who was in the field said that the overflow of the Grime River and Aso River was due to heavy rains that occurred on Saturday night January 8 in the Nimbokrang District.

“Babinsa has been deployed to monitor and assist communities affected by floods. We are also assisted by the police and people who are not affected by the flood," he said.

Meanwhile, the people affected by the flood, said Danramil, have been evacuated to their closest family or relatives who were not affected by the flood. “There were no casualties in this natural disaster. For temporary material losses, it was recorded that as many as 240 houses were flooded and people's agricultural land was also inundated," he said.

Meanwhile, Dandim 1701/Jayapura Lt. Col. Richard Arnold Y. Sangari on a different occasion said that his party had ordered all of his staff to carry out disaster preparedness in their respective areas.

“Personnel in every Koramil in the ranks of Kodim 1701/Jayapura since the flood last Friday in Jayapura and its surroundings, have been on standby in their respective areas to anticipate subsequent natural disasters. Thus personnel can act as quickly as possible in assisting the community, especially in carrying out evacuations so as to prevent casualties," he concluded.
