Joe Bonamassa, Steve Lukather And Taylor Hawkins Enter Line-up Album Tribute To White Blues Father Johnny Winter

JAKARTA - Quarto Valley Records has set April 15 as the release date for Brother Johnny, a tribute album to legendary blues guitarist Johnny Winter. This album was conceived by Johnny's brother, Edgar Winter.

Joining Edgar on this inclusive project are a number of well-known musicians who were also inspired by Johnny, including Joe Bonamassa, Doyle Bramhall II, John McFee, Robben Ford, Billy Gibbons, David Grissom, Taylor Hawkins, Warren Haynes.

Then, Steve Lukather, Michael McDonald, Keb Mo, Doug Rappoport, Bobby Rush, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Ringo Starr, Derek Trucks, Waddy Wachtel, Joe Walsh, Phil X and Gregg Bissonette.

This guitar-oriented album celebrates the expansive style Johnny is so famous for. The 17 songs that reside in it are carefully curated by Edgar and producer Ross Hogarth to represent Johnny's evolution as an artist.

As a special tribute to Johnny's great legacy, Edgar wrote two new songs for his brother.

"A lot of people tried to convince me to make a Johnny Winter tribute album. But I was completely devastated, and the timing just didn't feel right to me. It wasn't until after I finished Rock 'N' Blues Fest, the tour we were supposed to be doing together with our respective bands. -each, where the idea of a tribute recording started to take shape," said Edgar, quoted from Blabbermouth, Sunday, January 9.

Johnny Winter was found dead in his hotel room two days after his last appearance, at the Cahors Blues Festival in France. To be precise, on July 16, 2014.

Johnny's cause of death was not officially announced. But, according to his guitarist friend and record producer Paul Nelson, Johnny died of complications, emphysema and pneumonia.
