Chelsea Advance To FA Cup 4th Round After Thrashing Fifth Tier Chesterfield 5-1

JAKARTA - Chelsea strolled smoothly past fifth division team Chesterfield with a landslide victory 5-1 in the FA Cup third round match at Stamford Bridge Stadium, London, Saturday local time.

Quoted from Antara, Sunday, January 9, Thomas Tuchel's team only needed six minutes to open the scoring through Timo Werner's goal which took advantage of goalkeeper Scott Loach's imperfect anticipation of a cross in the visitors' penalty box.

Callum Hudson-Odoi doubled the lead in the 18th minute with an accurate curling shot from outside the box to slot the ball into the far post.

Two minutes later, it was Romelu Lukaku's turn to find the net for Chesterfield with a simple finish which met Lewis Hall's cross which marked his senior Chelsea debut with an assist.

Despite being three goals down from the far superior side, Chesterfield's players looked vibrant and almost troubled the Chelsea defense with their throw-in, but Emmanuel Oyeleke's volley went just outside the net.

Chelsea consolidated their lead to 4-0 in the 39th minute when Andras Chistensen headed home from a Hall shot that was blocked by Loach.

The hosts did not slow down and got their fifth goal from Hakim Ziyech's penalty kick in the 55th minute after Christian Pulisic was brought down by Calvin Miller in the box.

Chelsea failed to add to the lead, while Chesterfield went home with a consolation goal scored by Akwasi Asante in the 80th minute following Kabongo Tshimanga's throw-in shot that was not stopped by goalkeeper Marcus Bettinelli.

This victory makes Chelsea follow in the footsteps of several other Premier League clubs who have already qualified for the fourth round, namely Manchester City, Crystal Palace, Leicester City, Brentford and Brighton & Hove Albion.
