JAKARTA - A motorcycle rider, Muhajir Nurchamidin, a resident of Sinuian Village, Remboken, Minahasa Regency, was hit by a fallen palm tree on Jalan Desa Sawangan, North Minahasa Regency, North Sulawesi. Muhajir died on the spot.
The head of the Manado Search and Rescue (Basarnas) Office, Suhri Sinaga, in Manado, Saturday, January 8, confirmed this incident. The location of the incident is on the road from Airmadidi, North Minahasa to Tondano.
This single accident resulted in a long traffic jam either from Airmadidi to Tondano or vice versa, from Tondano to Airmadidi.
Regarding the report, he then ordered a rescue team to quickly go to the location so that the victims were quickly evacuated.
Joint SAR teams such as Basarnas, Police, BPBD, RAPI, PLN, local communities and road users are working together to clean up fallen trees.
"The victim was successfully evacuated dead and taken to the Walanda Maramis Airmadidi Hospital, North Minahasa," he said as quoted by Antara.
He appreciated the team involved in the field so that the process of evacuating victims went quickly and the road could be passed by vehicles smoothly.
"We urge the public when traveling to be careful on the road because it is the transition season, the weather changes very quickly," said Suhri Sinaga.
