KPK Gives Firm Warning Don't Anyone Try To Block The Investigation Of The Case For The Mayor Of Bekasi, What's Up?
JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has warned that no party should obstruct the investigation into the alleged bribery received by the inactive Bekasi Mayor Rahmat Effendi or commonly called Kang Pepen.
This warning was conveyed following the issue of the discovery of paper scraps that were destroyed in Pepen's temporary office at Gate 19 of Patriot Candrabhaga Stadium, Bekasi. This finding was widely discussed after the KPK conducted a hand arrest operation (OTT) on Wednesday, January 5.
"We remind that no party will deliberately obstruct the investigation process that we are currently conducting," Acting KPK Spokesperson for Enforcement Affairs Ali Fikri told reporters quoted on Saturday, January 8.
In addition, the KPK denied that the findings of the remaining papers were related to the silent operation. The reason is that until now it has not been confirmed whether the paper is related to the alleged bribery in the procurement of goods and services and the auction of positions that ensnared Pepen.
"However, in the process of investigating activities that the KPK is currently carrying out, we urge all parties who are called as witnesses to be cooperative in attending to the summons and explaining honestly in front of investigators what they know," he said.
As previously reported, PK named Rahmat Effendi along with eight other people as suspects for alleged bribery in the procurement of goods and services and the auction of positions in the Bekasi City Government.
Pepen is suspected of receiving billions of rupiah as a commitment fee from the private sector whose land was acquired for a project belonging to the Bekasi City Government and received compensation. However, he called the money a mosque donation code.
In addition to the bribes above, the KPK also revealed that Pepen received money related to project management and contract labor at the Bekasi City Government in the amount of Rp. 30 million. The money was given by the Director of PT MAM Energindo, Ali Amril and received by the Secretary of the Investment Office and PTSP Bekasi City, M Bunyamin.
Later, he also received some money from employees at the Bekasi City Government in return for their position. However, it did not specify how much money the Golkar Party politician received.
However, the money found from the gifts given by the employees was only Rp600 million left when the silent operation was carried out. Allegedly, the money already exists which was used in part to meet its operational needs.
