Indonesian Embassy: 141 Indonesian Citizens In Kazakhstan We Really Have To Take Care, Everyone Must Be Alert

JAKARTA - The Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia (KBRI) in Nur-sultan appealed to all Indonesian citizens (WNI) in Kazakhstan to always be vigilant and careful following the state of emergency imposed by the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.

"So always be vigilant and careful," said the Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia (Indonesian Ambassador) to Kazakhstan and the Republic of Tajikistan M Fadjroel Rachman in his statement, Friday, January 7.

In addition to an appeal to be vigilant and careful, the Indonesian Embassy also appealed to Indonesian citizens in the country not to go out of the house except for essential things. Then, they are also advised to obey the rules issued by the local government, maintain order and not participate in mass actions carried out in the local area.

"So we really urge you not to get involved, because this is none of our business," he said.

In addition, Indonesian citizens there are also advised not to provide public comments on the development of the situation in the country and finally they are also advised to continue to communicate with fellow Indonesian citizens and the Indonesian Embassy in Kazakhstan.

In addition to issuing appeals to Indonesian citizens in Kazakhstan, the Indonesian Embassy has also coordinated with the President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

"We have coordinated with the president. He said salus populi suprema lex esto, the safety of the people is the highest law. So 141 Indonesian citizens in Kazakhstan and 3 people from Tajikistan we really have to take care of. To this day the Indonesian Embassy guarantees that they are healthy and safe ," said Fadjroel.

Meanwhile, Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno Marsudi has also asked Fadjroel to open a hotline for seven days 24 hours via SMS, telephone and WA Group at +7771 8360245 to allow Indonesian citizens to know the latest developments in the situation in Kazakhstan.

"So hopefully, the whole family, relatives, friends, girlfriends, all of them 143 people are safe and healthy, and we the Indonesian Embassy, God willing, can guarantee their safety and health," said Fadjroel.

A state of emergency was imposed in Kazakhstan after the country was rocked by large-scale protests that saw protesters set several public buildings on fire.
