Jakarta Governor's Stock Exchange Warms Up, Hasto: PDIP's Decision Is In Megawati's Hands
JAKARTA - PDI-P Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto said PDIP General Chair Megawati Soekarnoputri will determine the name of the candidate for governor of DKI Jakarta. In addition, his party also has a clear mechanism for determining candidates.
"For the PDI-P, the decision rests with Megawati Soekarnoputri," Hasto told reporters on the sidelines of attending the Rice Companion Culinary Festival at the PDIP Party School Building on Jalan Lenteng Agung, South Jakarta, Friday, January 7.
Even so, currently there are a number of names that are included in the stock exchange for candidates for the Governor of DKI Jakarta. Among them are Minister of Social Affairs Tri Rismaharini and Mayor of Solo who is also the eldest son of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi), Gibran Rakabuming Raka.
Apart from that, there are also other names who already have good experience, such as former Banyuwangi Regent Abdullah Azwar Anas, Semarang Mayor Hendrar Prihadi, former Ngawi Regent Budi Sulistyono alias Kanang, Gianyar Regent I Made Agus Mahayastra.
"There are quite a number of potential leaders, because the process of regeneration in their party schools is worthy of being nominated in Jakarta. However, the current priority scale for Pdip is to strengthen the entire party network to touch all levels of society in Jakarta," he said.
Regarding the name Risma, Hasto said that his name was included in the stock exchange because of his experience in leading the city of Surabaya for two periods. Not only that, he is also considered to have brought significant changes to the City of Heroes.
Meanwhile, Gibran, he continued, felt he still needed to prove his leadership in Solo. Hasto said that President Jokowi's eldest son must be able to bring about change in the city he leads.
However, the two names will still have to compete with a number of other regional heads from PDIP whose quality is also unquestionable.
"Not only two names. There is also Anas from Banyuwangi, Hendi from Semarang, then Mr. Kanang from Ngawi district. Quite a number of leaders have succeeded at the district-city level. In Bali we have Mr. Agus Mayastro who has succeeded in leading the Gianyar district," he said.
Furthermore, Hasto also spoke about the possibility of carrying Basuki Tjahja Purnama alias Ahok. According to him, Ahok currently has a desire to become a teacher who travels throughout the area teaching PDIP cadres.
"Pak Ahok wants to teach all corners of Indonesia, teach PDI-P members and cadres, how to take leadership that dares to face risks, leadership that builds Jakarta firmly, without compromise," he said.
"Indeed, that is the character needed to lead Jakarta; a leader who dares to be firm, a leader who dares to expose various things that are detrimental to the interests of the people," concluded Hasto.
