Clown In Jembrana Bali Arrested For Robbing And Abusing Fruit Traders
JEMBRANA - The man with the initials FS (25) from Banyuwangi, East Java, who worked as a buskering clown was arrested by the Jembrana Police, Bali. He robbed and molested fruit merchants.
"Because they feel that the income from being a clown in Jembrana is low and they want to return to their village and have no money (eventually committing theft)," said Jembrana Police Chief AKBP I Dewa Gde Juliana, Friday, January 7.
Perpetrators robbed and molested fruit seller, Ni Nyoman Widastri (57) in Jembrana, Bali, on Monday, December 3.
At first the perpetrators pretended to buy Bali oranges. The perpetrator then asked the seller or the victim to peel the orange peel while waiting to sit at the back stop where the victim was selling.
The perpetrator hit the victim in the head with a stone twice.
"So the victim fell and was unconscious, then the perpetrator took the victim's wallet and cellphone and ran away," he added.
The victim's family reported this case to the Jemnbana Police. Police chased the perpetrator and arrested him in Banyuwangi, East Java.
AKBP Juliana said that during interrogation, the perpetrator admitted to hitting and taking the victim's belongings. After that, the perpetrator fled in a truck.
"The perpetrator's mode of taking the victim's belongings was by first immobilizing the victim by hitting the victim's head. Thus, the victim suffered a laceration to the head and the stolen evidence has been secured in the form of 1 mobile phone and Rp15 thousand in cash," he said.
The perpetrator is charged with Article 365 Paragraph (1) of the Criminal Code with a maximum penalty of 9 years.
