BBKSDA Riau Released 2 Meter Long Crocodiles That Once Bitten School Children 's Feet
JAKARTA - The Riau Natural Resources Conservation Center (BBKSDA) released five pythons (Pythonidae) and two crocodiles (Crocodylus porosus). One of these crocodiles once bit a schoolboy.
Head of Region I BBKSDA Riau Andri Hansen Siregar in Pekanbaru, Friday, January 7, said the animal was handed over from the Fire and Rescue Service of Indragiri Hilir Regency.
Some of these animals are immediately released into their habitat, namely in conservation areas.
"It is known that these rescued animals are animals that usually have conflicts with the community. These animals are in good condition and deserve to be released," said Andri quoted from Antara.
One of the crocodiles measuring approximately 2 meters had bitten the leg of a school child in Indragiri Hilir Regency some time ago. Meanwhile, the five snakes were found from residential areas, both found in houses, yards and several public facilities.
"The longest the python that was released was about 5 meters," said Andri.
Andri said the release process went smoothly without any problems, and it was hoped that the animals would be free in their habitat.
"We release them in a place that is indeed a habitat for these animals and it is clear that they are far from settlements. The place is still a conservation area," he said.
He also reminded the public to report to the authorities if they find or see protected animals that are suspected of causing unwanted things.
"Don't be hurt, they also have the right to live," he said.
