KPK Has Not Found A Flow Of Bribes From Bekasi Mayor Rahmat Effendi To The Golkar Party

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) confirmed that it had not found any flow of money from Bekasi Mayor Rahmat Effendi to the Golkar Party.

This was conveyed after the anti-corruption commission named Kang Pepen, as Rahmat Effendi is known, as a suspect in the alleged bribery in the procurement of goods and services as well as the auction of positions in the Bekasi City Government, West Java.

"I want to say that until today it has not been revealed," said KPK Chairman Firli Bahuri at the KPK Red Building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Thursday, January 9.

Even so, Firli emphasized that his party would continue to investigate this matter. "We will never stop," said the former Deputy for Enforcement of the KPK.

"In principle, the KPK works of course with sufficient initial evidence, sufficient evidence, and adequacy of evidence," added Firli.

For information, Kang Pepen has served as Mayor of Bekasi for two periods, namely in 2013-2018 to 2018-2023. He is a Golkar Party politician and currently serves as Chairman of the DPP.

As previously reported, the anti-corruption commission named Pepen along with eight other people as suspects in the alleged bribery in the procurement of goods and services as well as the auction of positions in the Bekasi City Government.

Pepen with M. Bunyamin who is the Secretary of the Investment Office and PTSP Bekasi City; Head of Kati Sari Village, Mulyadi alias Bayong; Jatisampurna Sub-district Head, Wahyudin; and the Head of the Bekasi City Housing, Settlement and Land Office, Jumhana Lutfi, were named as recipients of bribes.

Meanwhile the Director of PT MAM Energindo, Ali Amril; private company named Lai Bui Min; Director of PT Kota Bintang Rayatri, Suryadi; and the sub-district head of Rawa Lumbu, Makhfud Saifudin, was named the bribe giver.
