Data On 6 Million Hospital Patients Allegedly Sold In Online Forums, Ministry Of Health Explores The Truth
JAKARTA - Twitter social media was shocked by the news of the alleged data hacking of 6 million hospital patients in Indonesia. This allegedly hacked data is being sold on Raid Forums online.
Mentioned, this data was taken from the central server of the Ministry of Health. The patient data with a total size of 720 GB contains personal data, X-rays, ultrasound, to patient medical videos.
The perpetrators were also reported to have provided evidence of electrocardiographic, laboratory, and radiological medical data samples at the forum.
Hackers admit to selling this data to just one or two people in cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin. It is stated that the perpetrators sold the data for 150,000 US dollars or equivalent to Rp. 2.15 billion.
In response to this, a spokeswoman for the Ministry of Health, Siti Nadia Tarmizi, admitted that her party had received news of the alleged hack. The Ministry of Health is currently investigating the truth of the sale of the patient data.
"We are currently in the process of tracing the truth of the information," said Nadia in a short message to VOI, Thursday, January 6.
