Sleepy, Avanza Driver Lost Control In Jatinegara, Car Enters Trench

JAKARTA - East Jakarta Transportation Sub-dept. officers evacuate a black Avanza car that was stuck in a water channel on Jalan Bekasi Timur, Jatinegara, East Jakarta.

It is known that the Avanza driver was allegedly sleepy while crossing the road, so he couldn't concentrate.

Edy admitted that at that time he was already wearing a seat belt so he did not suffer serious injuries.

"There are no injuries, you are wearing a seat belt," said Edy to reporters at the scene, Thursday, January 6.

"(cause) sleepy. Road on the left side lane, single accident," continued Edy.

As a result of the accident, Edy could only stare at his car which was shattered at the front and the rear glass was broken.

"I was driving, because I was sleepy, the car immediately went up to the sidewalk. I slammed my steering wheel to the left," he said.

Edy said that before the accident happened, he wanted to pick up his brother.

"I live behind the Cipinang Bird Market," he said.

East Jakarta Transportation Sub-Department officers who arrived at the location attempted to tow it. Slowly, officers finally managed to tow the car to another place.
