12 Hours Of Examination Case For Red Notice Djoko Tjandra, Tommy Sumardi Not Detained

JAKARTA - Bareskrim Polri investigators decided not to detain Tommy Sumardi after being questioned for 12 hours. He is being investigated as a suspect in the alleged bribery case for the removal of red notice Djoko Tjandra.

In addition, investigators did not detain Inspector General Napoleon Bonaparte. The detention was not carried out because the investigators considered them to be cooperative.

"We need to convey that in accordance with the investigator's authority for TS suspect and suspect NB, no detention has been carried out," said Karo Penmas, Police Public Relations Division, Brigadier General Awi Setiyono to reporters, Tuesday, August 26.

Moreover, he said, detaining a suspect is the prerogative of an investigator. So whether or not detention is necessary is based on the needs of the investigator.

"Of course, again, this is the prerogative of the investigator regarding subjective and objective conditions related to detention and from the investigator's statement that during the examination, the two suspects are the only ones cooperative in the examination," said Awi.

Meanwhile, Brigadier General Prasetyo had indeed been detained before. This is because he was also named a suspect in the fake pass.

"When it comes to the other suspect, PU is indeed detained in connection with the previous case, namely the case of the fake Djoko S. Tjandra passport," Awi concluded.

In this case the police have named four people as suspects. They are Inspector General Napoleon Bonaparte and Brigadier General Prasetyo Utomo. Both are suspected as recipients of bribes for red notice removal.

Both of them were charged with Article 5 Paragraph 2, Article 11 and Article 12 letters a and b of Law Number 20 of 2020 concerning Corruption (Tipikor) in conjunction with Article 55 of the Criminal Code.

While the other two people are bribes. They are Djoko Tjandra and Tommy Sumardi. Both of them were charged under Article 5 Paragraph 1, Article 13 of Law 20/2020 concerning Corruption Crime (Tipikor) in conjunction with Article 55 of the Criminal Code.

In the bribery case, investigators confiscated US $ 20 thousand as evidence.
