3 Suspects In Bribery Case Red Notice Djoko Tjandra Confess To Receiving And Giving Bribes

JAKARTA - Investigation of 3 suspects that allegedly bribery eliminating red notice has been completed. They were asked for dozens of questions regarding the flow of funds.

Karo Penmas, National Police Public Relations Division, Brigadier General Awi Setiyono, said the suspects being questioned were Tommy Sumardi as the bribe giver, Inspector General Napoleon Bonaparte and Brigadier General Presetyo Utomo as the recipient of the bribe.

"The brothers of suspect TS were questioned by the investigators as many as 60 questions. Then for the PU suspect, about 50 questions were asked and for the suspect NB, there were about 70 questions," Awi told reporters, Tuesday, August 25. .

Of the three suspects, said Awi, investigators dug up information about who was involved in the bribery for the removal of Djoko Tjandra's red notice. Then, regarding the method and place of giving money as a bribe.

"Then with what is the bribery, then the question of why bribery occurred, this is also investigated by investigators because investigators are looking for a match between the testimonies of witnesses and other suspects," Awi said.

From the examination, the three suspects admitted to being the giver and recipient of the bribe for the removal of the red notice. However, Awi was reluctant to elaborate on the nominal issue of the bribes on the grounds that they were still under investigation.

"We have conducted an examination and have acknowledged receiving the money. Of course this is not as easy as what we conveyed, that's why we, too, we do not convey it here because it is related to the money received, it will be clarified with other evidence. If it is a transfer or cash and carry, of course everything will be investigated by investigators and it will all be disclosed in court later, "he concluded.

In this case the police have named four people as suspects. They are Inspector General Napoleon Bonaparte and Brigadier General Prasetyo Utomo, who are the suspects who received the bribe for the removal of red notice by Djoko Tjandra.

Both of them were charged with Article 5 Paragraph 2, Article 11 and Article 12 letters a and b of Law Number 20 of 2020 concerning Corruption (Tipikor) in conjunction with Article 55 of the Criminal Code.

Meanwhile, the other two people, Djoko Tjandra and Tommy Sumardi, are suspected of grafting bribes. Both of them were charged under Article 5 Paragraph 1, Article 13 of Law 20/2020 concerning Corruption Crime (Tipikor) in conjunction with Article 55 of the Criminal Code.

In the bribery case, investigators confiscated US $ 20 thousand as evidence.

Previously, in questioning Djoko Tjandra, Monday, August 24, he admitted to giving bribes to the two Police generals. This money is related to the removal of red notice Djoko Tjandra.

"From the results of the examination, we cannot convey the whole, especially regarding the nominal value because we are still in the process and the person concerned has admitted that (bribery) has given a certain amount of money to the suspects," said Awi, Monday, August 24.
