The Robbers At Pondok Kelapa TPU Were Not Detained, But Sent To The Social Service Because They Were Still Underage
JAKARTA - Duren Sawit Police Investigators have handed over a case of attempted robbery involving an underage girl with the initials A and a boy with the initials S with evidence of sharp weapons to the Social Institution. The delegation was carried out because both of them were underage.
"I handed it over to the Social Institution, because (the perpetrators) were underage. Both were underage," said Duren Sawit Police Chief Kompol Suyud to VOI, Thursday, January 6.
From the results of the investigation conducted by the Duren Sawit Police on the two perpetrators, both of them admitted that they had only done this action once.
"This is the first time they have done that," he said.
Meanwhile, regarding the reasons for submitting the attempted crime case, the Sector Police explained that his party was only based on the fact that the perpetrator was still a minor so that an investigation could not be carried out and was not detained.
"Not detained, the names of the children, how do you want to investigate?" he said.
He again ensured that the cases of the two perpetrators were handed over to the Social Institution because the perpetrators were still minors.
"Reminding the children, I will hand them over to social institutions," he said.
As is known, Law No. 11 of 2012 concerning the Juvenile Justice System, underage children who stumble on cases with the threat of a sentence of under seven years cannot be detained. Meanwhile, minors who face a sentence of more than seven years in prison can be detained.
This case began when a young man named Nasrul (19) almost became a victim of a robbery at the Pondok Kelapa Public Cemetery, Duren Sawit, East Jakarta.
The gang of perpetrators used a woman to find a male victim who they wanted to date and meet.
The incident began when Nasrul made an appointment with a woman with the initials A through social media Facebook.
A also invited victim Nasrul to meet at the Pondok Kelapa TPU area on Monday, January 3, at night. Nasrul said he came from the Pondok Aren (Tangsel) area to TPU because he was invited to meet in the TPU area.
"He was waiting at the door of the tomb, I finally came," Nasrul told reporters. After meeting at the TPU, the woman with the initial A asked Nasrul to ride her motorbike inside. After entering the tomb area, Nasrul was actually awaited by two men carrying sharp weapons who walked towards him.
"So when A got off the motorbike, these two people appeared carrying weapons. I ran away and screamed for help," said Nasrul.
Residents around the scene who heard the victim's screams immediately tried to help him. Residents searched for the whereabouts of the perpetrators and managed to secure the woman with the initials A and the perpetrator with the initials S along with sharp weapons. Meanwhile, the other perpetrators managed to escape.
The two perpetrators were then taken to the Duren Sawit Police Headquarters along with evidence for further processing. The Head of the Duren Sawit Police, Kompol Suyud, confirmed the alleged robbery.
The police chief said that two people were secured from the Pondok Kelapa TPU area.
"The modus operandi of the gang of perpetrators is to use women to search for victims via Facebook," he said when contacted by VOI, Tuesday, January 4.
Currently, the two perpetrators are still undergoing examination at the Duren Sawit Police.
"A sharp weapon belonging to one perpetrator was confiscated. According to his confession, the perpetrator is 16 years old but an investigation is still underway," he said.
