U-20 Player Regulation: Persib Seeks Additional, Arema Continues To Monitor
JAKARTA - The Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) and PT Liga Indonesia Baru (LIB) have implemented a number of new regulations in the continuation of the League 1 competition. One of them is that clubs must play U-20 players. The hope is that the Indonesian national team coach Shin Tae-yong can see the players who can be called up to enter the Indonesian U-19 national team at the 2021 U-20 World Cup.
The Under-20 player regulation was welcomed by the League 1 club. Nobody has rejected this regulation. Even Persib Bandung has prepared steps to be able to implement this regulation when the competition is running later.
The Persib Bandung coach, Robert Alberts, is reportedly even going to involve U-20 players from Persib's training in training this week. This is a monitoring event before the player enters the squad officially.
Persib actually already has two U-20 players, namely Beckham Putra and Mario Jardel. However, Robert felt he still needed additional U-20 players.
"Yes, we have identified our U-20 players from the U-20 team. First, we will of course look at the recommended talents from the junior team coach and coordinator, Yoyo (Adiredja) and we see his individual abilities and mentality," explained Robert.
Meanwhile, Arema FC Assistant Coach, Charis Yulianto continues to monitor the progress of U-20 players who have joined training with the senior team. He hopes the players can prove their quality.
"It all depends on the U-20 children, we all monitor them. At least they already have experience training with seniors, that's a plus for themselves. The important thing is they have to work hard too," said Charis.
The former Indonesian national team player assessed that the opportunity to play in the League 1 competition will depend on the hard work of the players themselves. They are required to give their best so that the coach can glance at them.
"Our capacity coach assesses the quality of the game," said Charis.
