7 Bodies Of Shipwrecked Victims In Malaysia From NTB Buried
CENTRAL LOMBOK - Seven bodies of Indonesian migrant workers (PMI) from West Nusa Tenggara who were victims of a ship sinking in Malaysian waters have been buried in their respective hometowns.
"Seven bodies of PMI from Malaysia have arrived at the cargo terminal of Lombok International Airport, around 15:00 WITA," said Central Lombok Police Chief, AKBP Hery Indra Cahyono in Praya, quoted by Antara, Wednesday, January 5.
The body was returned to Lombok International Airport using a Lion Air aircraft from Jakarta with Flight Number JT-654.
"The family has brought the bodies of the victims to their respective funeral homes for burial," he said.
The bodies that were repatriated include Baharudin (40) a resident of Barabali Village, Batukliang District and Sadi (47) a resident of Prako Village, Janapria District, Central Lombok Regency.
Ahmad Sutrisno Pratama (32) a resident of Denggen Village, Selong District, Dedy Suryadi (34) Anjani Village, Surelage District, Rusdi (41) Lenek Village, Supardi (52) Lenek Village, Lenek District, and Unwanul Hubbi (35) a resident of Aiq Village Prapa, Aiq Mel District, East Lombok Regency.
"Two victims from Central Lombok and five victims from East Lombok," he said.
Previously, the bodies of seven Indonesian migrant workers (PMI) from the Province of West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) who were victims of the sinking ship were repatriated from Malaysia.
"We received information from the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs regarding the plan for the second phase of repatriation of seven PMI bodies from NTB today," said Head of the Technical Implementation Unit of the Indonesian Migrant Worker Protection Agency for NTB Abri Danar Prabawa in Mataram.
The Technical Implementation Unit of the Indonesian Migrant Worker Protection Agency NTB received information from the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia (KJRI) Johor Bahru regarding the shipwreck of a PMI carrier at Tanjung Balau Beach, Kota Tinggi Johor, on December 15, 2021.
"The ship is suspected of carrying 50 Indonesian citizens and 21 of them died. Among the victims of the shipwreck who died there were 14 PMI from NTB," he said.
