Governor Khofifah Appreciates The Acceleration Of Semeru Shelter Development

LUMAJANG - East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa appreciated the acceleration of the construction of temporary shelters (huntaras) for survivors of the Mount Semeru hot cloud (APG) disaster in Lumajang Regency.

"We all give great appreciation. I myself did not expect that there would be such an extraordinary acceleration in the construction of the shelters," he said while reviewing the construction process of the shelters in Sumbermujur Village, Candipuro District, Lumajang Regency, quoted by Antara, Wednesday, January 5.

The shelters and permanent residences (huntap) to be built are type 60, the shelters will be built at the back of the plot with a building area of 6 x 4 meters, while the huntap will be built in the front plot with a size of 6 x 6 meters.

The total land to be used for shelters and huntaps has an area of 81 hectares with a capacity of 2,000 houses equipped with public facilities, social facilities, and economic facilities.

In addition, there is also land in Oro-oro Ombo Village, Pronojiwo District with an area of 9.4 hectares and the permit is still being re-applied due to a shift in location.

"The construction of shelters in Lumajang, which involves many parties, can become a national model for residential development in disaster relocation areas because it is integrated with public, social and economic facilities," he said.

Khofifah said that in the future the shelters will be able to move the economy of the residents because there are economic sectors that are prepared according to the culture of the people, namely gardening, farming and animal husbandry, so that there will be livestock prepared.

"The residence is not only suitable for habitation, but is integrated with public facilities and social facilities, there is also an economic aspect that is in accordance with the prepared community culture. That will be a reference," he said.

Meanwhile, the Regent of Lumajang, Thoriqul Haq, said that the shelters to be built have a good standard so that they can be used for a long period of time.

"The synergy that exists between the provincial government and the district government runs harmoniously, so that evacuation and repairs can proceed quickly," he said.
