Kieran Trippier Moves To Club Of The Prince Of Saudi Arabia's Red Zone For IDR 233 Billion

JAKARTA - Newcastle United have agreed a £12 million transfer plus addition with Atletico Madrid for England full-back Kieran Trippier.

The 31-year-old will be Newcastle's first signing since taking over from their new Saudi owners, and the first for coach Eddie Howe since he was appointed in November last year.

Trippier joined La Liga side Atletico Madrid in 2019 from Tottenham for £20 million. He is scheduled to undergo medical on Wednesday (UK time).

Howe himself coached Trippier when he played at Burnley.

Trippier has made 83 appearances for Atletico and helped the club win the La Liga trophy last season.

The defender was part of the England national team that reached the final of the 2020 European Cup (Euro) last summer.

Newcastle is the second bottom of the Premier League having won just one league game all season.

Their next game is away to Cambridge United in the FA Cup third round on Saturday, January 8 at 22.00 p.m. CET, before hosting Watford in the Premier League on January 15.
