The President has even ordered the Minister of Law and Human Rights along with the Minister of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection to immediately coordinate and consult with the DPR so that there are accelerated steps so that the TPKS Bill can be immediately ratified.

"As we know, the TPKS Bill is currently in the hands of the DPR leadership. The next step is the approval process at the Plenary Session to ratify it as a DPR Initiative Bill," said Willy in Jakarta, Tuesday, January 4.

"When this is legal, what has been confirmed by the president will be welcome. The team from the DPR is ready to welcome teams from the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, the P3A Ministry, and the Government Task Force to formulate accelerated steps in this regard," he continued.

Willy explained that the acceleration step is needed so that the process of formulating it into a law does not take too long. After going through a fairly tough debate at the Panja level, the coordination between the Ministry of Law and Human Rights and the Ministry of WUA and the team in the DPR is expected to be faster.

“Moreover, we are currently in a sexual violence emergency situation. The government is certainly aware of this. So, what has been stated by President Jokowi today is really a momentum for progress in efforts to protect victims of sexual violence," said Willy.
