Bridge Connecting East Aceh And Gayo Lues Collapses In Flood
BANDA ACEH - The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of East Aceh Regency said the cross-provincial bridge connecting East Aceh Regency and Gayo Lues Regency had collapsed due to flooding.
"The bridge between Kliet Village and Beurandang Village, Ranto Pereulak District, broke after being hit by a flood," said the Head of BPBD for East Aceh Regency, Ashadi, quoted by Antara, Tuesday, January 4.
Ashadi said the water level during the flood in the area reached one meter above the road. As a result of the collapsed bridge, residents in three sub-districts were isolated.
"The residents of the three isolated sub-districts, namely Peunarun District, Serbajadi District and most of the Ranto Peureulak District," said Ashadi.
Ashadi said the community prepared rafts or getek boats to transport vehicles and passersby. However, for four-wheeled vehicles can not pass.
In addition to the bridge connecting the districts, the bridge between villages in Indra Makmur District and Idi Tunong District also collapsed in the flood.
Meanwhile, in Buket Seulemak Village, Bireum Bayeun District, the road was buried by a landslide as high as seven meters. Likewise in Alue Sentang Village, the road was buried by a landslide as high as four meters.
"Flood not only damaged roads and bridges, but also other public facilities. The flood also claimed two lives, namely children aged eight and 13 years who were dragged by the flood currents," said Ashadi.
