Lawyers Apply For Suspension Of Detention Even Though Bahar Smith Boasts That He Is Ready To Be Imprisoned To The Point Of Sacrificing His Life

JAKARTA - Lawyer Ichwanuddin Tuankotta has officially proposed a suspension of detention for his client, Bahar bin Smith, who was a suspect and was immediately detained by the West Java Police. Even though Bahar Smith, before being investigated, had once boasted that he was ready to be imprisoned and even sacrificed his life.

Ichwan said that the letter of suspension of detention had been officially sent and they had also received a receipt. There is one person who is ready to serve as bail for the suspension of detention for Bahar Smith.

"Only from his friends," said Ichwan to VOI, Tuesday, January 4.

Bahar Smith's suspension of detention was also criticized by social media activist Ferdinand Hutahaean. He insinuated that the application for detention was made not even a day after the police process took place.

"Only 1 night he was arrested, already asked to go home and applied for a suspension of detention. That's why bro, be careful talking, natural karma is still strong..!!" quipped Ferdinand through his Twitter account.

The Head of Public Relations of the West Java Police, Kombes Ibrahim Tompo, explained that until now investigators have not been able to reveal the contents of the hoax material conveyed by Bahar Smith because of considerations of pro-justitia aspects or for the sake of the law.

"Regarding the material for the investigation, this is projustitia, so we don't publish it because it is pro-justitia, and can only be used during court proceedings," said Ibrahim.

According to him, the chronology of the hoax was allegedly carried out by Bahar Smith during a lecture in Margaasih District, Bandung Regency, West Java, December 11, 2022.

From that lecture, Bahar Smith's hoax was allegedly disseminated on YouTube by a man with the initials TR who has also been named a suspect.

"YouTube was seen by the public and reported by someone with the initials TNA to the Polda Metro Jaya on December 17, 2021," said Ibrahim.

However, Ibrahim said that the investigation of the case was then transferred to the West Java Regional Police because the location of the lecture was in West Java.
