Gerindra Asks Anies Baswedan To Be More Serious In Handling Floods In His Last Year As Governor Of DKI

JAKARTA - 2022 will be the last year DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan has served. This year, Deputy Chairperson of the DKI DPRD from the Gerindra faction, Mohamad Taufik, views Anies as having to be more serious about running the flood control program.

"What I don't think is that it must be immediately made effective in the remaining term of office. Regarding flooding, how to reduce the point, it must be reduced," said Taufik when contacted, Tuesday, January 4.

However, Taufik said that it did not mean that Anies had not handled the Jakarta floods during his four years of leadership. He views that the flood point has been reduced considerably since Anies' first term in office until now.

"In my opinion, we can't close our eyes that that's what Anies did. This flood has a low point. So, if you look at flooding, don't flood it, but from period to period it doesn't decrease," he said.

Previously, the problem of flooding that usually inundates the capital city during the rainy season was also highlighted by the PDIP faction of the DKI DPRD. The head of the PDIP faction, Gembong Warsono, said that the flood control program was still a problem because it had not yet touched on the subject matter.

Gembong regretted that Anies had never worked on a river normalization program from 2018 to 2021.

In fact, the overall target for river normalization as a flood control program is 33.69 kilometers. Unfortunately, only 16 kilometers have been successfully normalized. This was also done before Anies took office in 2017.

"For four years we have only struggled, only arguing about the terms whether to normalize or naturalize. But no matter what, neither of them were executed," said Gembong, some time ago.

Then the matter of making infiltration wells which are chaotic. The DKI Provincial Government targets the construction of around 25 thousand infiltration wells with a budget of IDR 411 billion during 2021. However, the fact is that currently many infiltration wells are problematic.

"The work of infiltration wells is not right on target. In fact, according to Pergub Regulation No. 20 of 2013, infiltration wells must be located in the building area, not outside areas such as roads," said Gembong.
