JAKARTA - The West Java (Jabar) Regional Police has named Bahar Smith as a suspect in the case of spreading false information or hate speech hoaxes during his lecture in Bandung Regency. The funny thing is, even the name of social media activist Denny Siregar is trending on Twitter.
Previously, the West Java Police, through their investigators, had found two valid pieces of evidence and supported the determination of Bahar Smith as a suspect. Not only that, the video uploader Bahar Smith, a man with the initials TR is also a suspect.
Bahar was charged with Article 14 paragraphs 1 and 2 of Law Number 1 of 1946 concerning the Criminal Law Regulation in conjunction with Article 55 of the Criminal Code, and or Article 15 of Law Number 1 of 1946 concerning the Criminal Law Regulation in conjunction with Article 55 of the Criminal Code, and or Article 28 paragraph 2 in conjunction with Article 45a UU ITE (Information and Electronic Transactions) in conjunction with Article 55 of the Criminal Code.
Bahar has been questioned for almost 11 hours at the General Criminal Investigation Directorate of the West Java Police since Monday at 12.30 WIB. Meanwhile, the announcement of Bahar as a suspect was made by the investigator team on Monday night, at 23.30 WIB.
After the determination of the suspect, Bahar was immediately arrested and immediately detained. The reason is, the threat of punishment for Bahar based on the article applied is five years in prison or more.
Apart from Bahar, according to him, the man who uploaded the lecture video with the initials TR was also named a suspect. TR was named a suspect under the same article.
The funny thing is, since this morning, the name of social media activist Denny Siregar has even been sticking out to be trending on Twitter's timeline. Many netizens have questioned the continuation of the Denny Siregar case after it was reported a few months ago.
