Workers, Farmers And Street Vendors Will Demonstrate In Several Points In Jakarta

JAKARTA - A number of demonstrations involving masses of workers, farmers and street vendors are scheduled to take place in Jakarta, Tuesday, August 25.

Among other things, the masses from the Confederation of Indonesian Workers Unions (KSPI) will involve workers from a number of elements of the Workers Union in the Greater Jakarta area. Head of the KSPI Communication and Media Department, Kahar S Cahyono in a written statement said that the action was held at 10.30 WIB.

The crowd would gather in front of the TVRI Building, Central Jakarta, then move on foot to the DPR RI Building.

"The agenda is to reject the 'omnibus law' of the Job Creation Bill and stop layoffs," he said.

In addition, a number of street vendors (PKL) who usually sell around the banks of the East Jakarta Flood Canal (BKT) are also scheduled to hold demonstrations at the East Jakarta Mayor's Building in the Pulo Gebang area.

The action was held at around 09.00 WIB demanding to obtain a trading permit after the closure of the stalls since March.

Meanwhile, through the Twitter account @TMCPoldaMetro, officers of the Directorate of Traffic at Polda Metro Jaya carried out coordination activities related to the expression of opinions by the Deli Serdang Sumatran Farmers Association.

A man wearing a farmer's hat and a red vest complete with an oration banner was seen having a dialogue with the police in the Kuningan Barat area, Mampang Perapatan, South Jakarta.
