Tigers Prey On Cows, Bengkulu BKSDA Asks Residents To Be Careful When Gardening

MUKOMUKO - The Bengkulu Natural Resources Conservation Agency (BKSDA) asked the people of the Lapindo area or the Lubuk Talang Settlement and Transmigration Unit (UPT) in Malin Deman District, Mukomuko Regency, to be careful. Because the area is close to the habitat of the Sumatran tiger (Panthera tigris sumatrae).

Said said this following reports from local residents about tiger disturbances that preyed on residents' cows.

"It's a tiger because the location is close to the Air Rami Production Forest area, its habitat is there, tigers just pass by, we advise people to be careful gardening there," said Head of the Conservation Section I Region I BKSDA Bengkulu, Said Jauhari in his statement at Mukomuko, Bengkulu, Antara, Monday, January 3.

The Bengkulu BKSDA has checked the presence of Sumatran tiger disturbances which are reported to have preyed on the livestock of the people of the area. Furthermore, imba Said, residents are asked to

make animal cages that are anti-tiger. Farm animals must also be caged.

For the time being, he said, the BKSDA had not installed tiger cages or traps because of the disturbance of Sumatran tigers in the area.

"Sometimes the tiger travels as far as 17 kilometers per day, he doesn't specify in one place he only crosses this area. This tiger is temporary, he doesn't wait in one place," he also said.

Meanwhile, the BKSDA previously called the Lapindo people or the Lubuk Talang Settlement Transmigration Unit (UPT) in Malin Deman Sub-district and it happened, but it was a long time ago.

He said that his party contacted the Lapindo people because there were reports from the community in this area regarding the disturbance of the Sumatran tiger preying on cows in this area.

According to reports from the community, the incident occurred at around 21.00 WIB at night, the tiger preyed on the cattle belonging to the community in this area and they asked for this report to be followed up.
