It's Been A Long Time And Has Cost A Lot Of Money, PAN Legislator Proposes A Quarantine For 3-4 Days
JAKARTA - Member of the PAN faction in the DPR, Saleh Partaonan Daulay, believes that the government needs to find a new formulation in quarantine rules. The reason is, many community members object to the quarantine time being too long.
"There has been a lot of criticism directed at the government. There are those who say the cost is too expensive, there are those who ask that there is no need for quarantine, just self-isolation. There are also those who compare it to other countries that do not enforce quarantine," Saleh told reporters, Monday, 3. January.
According to the chairman of the PAN faction of the DPR, the change in quarantine rules in Indonesia can be interpreted as the government's unpreparedness. It could also, he said, be interpreted as not yet unanimous in the decision related to the policy. Evidently, in recent times there have been several changes to the rules.
"The government actually hears criticism and input from the community. Unfortunately, it is not followed up with a middle ground policy. Which does not burden the government and the community," said Saleh.
"If the quarantine is 14 or 10 days, it will definitely burden the community. Not only because they have to be isolated in hotels. But also because the costs are quite expensive," he continued.
Therefore, Saleh proposed a middle way. Namely, those who enter Indonesia from abroad, only need to be quarantined for 3 or 4 days.
"Once they land, they certainly have to be PCR swabs. For those who are negative, they will continue to be quarantined for 3 or 4 days at the hotel. During that time, they will be monitored. Several PCR swab tests were carried out," he explained.
If the fourth day is declared negative, continued Saleh, quarantine participants are allowed to return to their respective homes. However, they are not free and must continue self-isolation at home.
"Of course they must be registered and supervised by the task force. It could also be the Babinkamtibmas, Babinsa, or the kelurahan party. That way, no one comes out during the period of self-isolation at the house," he explained.
If anyone comes out during the self-isolation period, Saleh added, they will be detained and quarantined again at the hotel. Due to a violation, the quarantine can be carried out for 14 days and the costs will be borne by the person concerned.
"I see, this is a middle way. The quarantine is not too burdensome. Self-isolation at home is also not burdensome. Besides, the person concerned can carry out activities at home. Of course with strict procedures," he said.
