AFF Cup 2020 Complete, Indonesian National Team Squad Undergoes Quarantine Before Returning To Home Club
JAKARTA - The struggle of the Indonesian national team in the 2020 AFF Cup has been completed even though it failed to bring the championship trophy. Now, the Garuda squad is preparing to return to their respective clubs.
Before returning, the players who arrived in Indonesia on Sunday, January 2 first underwent a quarantine process. This is a form of compliance with health protocols to prevent the transmission of COVID-19.
Asnawi Mangkualam et al are required to undergo quarantine for 10 days at a designated place in a hotel in Jakarta. The presence of the national team after fighting in Singapore also received a welcome from the General Chairperson of PSSI, Mochamad Iriawan.
"Welcome back to the country. The people of Indonesia are proud, we are proud of your achievements," Iriawan wrote on his social media account as a welcome speech.
Apart from the quarantine process that national team players have to undergo before returning to their respective cities, their struggle in Singapore deserves appreciation.
Because, despite failing to bring home the championship trophy, Indonesia won the title as a fair play team during the 2020 AFF Cup competition. In addition, Pratama Arhan also brought home the individual title as the best young player.
The national team should be proud to lose the trophy for the sixth time and come home as runner-up. However, Shin Tae-yong's squad which consists of mostly young players have proven their struggle in Singapore as Group B winners ahead of Malaysia, Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos with good performances.
