Proton, Malaysian Made Car Exported To Kenya
Jakarta - The Malaysian national car company, Proton, is exporting its first batch to Kenya, Africa.
Reported by Antara, Monday, August 24, the company's official statement said the export consisted of 30 Proton Saga units sent as CKD (Completely Knocked Down) kits and would be assembled by Simba Corporation (Simba).
Simba is a diversified conglomerate with a long history of sales and assembly experience in the automotive industry.

Proton's decision to export Saga in CKD format was made after consultation with its Kenyan counterpart, Simba.
Apart from attracting lower taxes by being assembled locally, the CKD unit will help spur the development of the Kenyan auto manufacturing industry.
“Meanwhile strengthening Proton's domestic position is critical to truly being recognized as an international automaker. We need to see our products in places as diverse as Bangkok, Islamabad, Cairo and now, Nairobi, "said Proton's Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Dato 'Radzaif Mohamed.
At the national level, he said, this would also increase the value of trade between Malaysia and Kenya and help contribute to job creation in the Kenyan automotive industry.
The guest of honor for the flag-removing ceremony was the Kenya High Commissioner for Malaysia, Francis N. Muhoro.
In his speech, Muhoro explained how his country has an eastward policy and his wish is for more Malaysian companies like Proton to find investment opportunities in Kenya.
"Malaysia and Kenya have a lot in common, from colonial times to our efforts in building our country. Proton's entry into this country is not only a gateway to the market of 51 million people but also a gateway to the potential market of 1.3 billion inhabiting the African continent. , "he said.
