JAKARTA - An elderly man went on a rampage and abused residents on Pisangan Baru Tengah Street, Pisangan Baru Village, Matraman District, East Jakarta. As a result of the incident, two residents were injured by the knife cutter brought by the perpetrator.

The victim found a wound on the right hand that required 17 stitches. Currently, the perpetrators of the stabbing have been arrested by the Matraman Police.

According to the victim, Anita, the incident began when she reprimanded the perpetrator. The victim saw the perpetrator tearing a number of banners for celebrating the Prophet's Birthday that were installed on the edge of Pisangan Baru Tengah Street, Matraman District, East Jakarta.

"Just installed the banners, nine of the banners were torn off. The person (the perpetrator) often passed by, he was a scavenger," he said.

The perpetrator, who was upset because he was reprimanded by the victim, suddenly attacked the victim with a cutter knife and hit the victim's arm.

Another victim's colleague who saw the incident tried to help Anita. However, the perpetrator again threw the cutter at other residents until he was injured again.

However, other residents who were also around the location were furious at the perpetrator's actions. Residents in a crowd finally caught the perpetrator and secured him to the local RW post. Then the perpetrator was taken to Matraman Police Headquarters.

When confirmed, the Matraman Police Chief, Commissioner of Police Tedjo, confirmed the incident and had received the incident report.

"The perpetrator is a stressed person (mental disorder). The perpetrator has been sent to the DKI Jakarta Social Service. The victim who was hit by a cutter knife also understands because the person (perpetrator) is stressed," said the Sector Police Chief when contacted by VOI, Monday, January 3, afternoon.
