JAKARTA – Huawei's attempt to enter the electric car industry is getting a breath of fresh air. So far, the Chinese company has recorded more than 6,000 orders for its smart SUV, the Aito M5.
According to a Huawei Central report quoted on Saturday, January 1, 2022, the car is equipped with Harmony OS. It was also previously reported that Huawei Aito M5 got more than 200 orders in 3 days. Then in 5 days it has exceeded 6 thousand orders. This is a big record for Huawei which will launch its smart car this year.
Aito M5 is also a hybrid car (hybrid) that runs on electricity, gasoline, and was built jointly by Huawei and Seres. Aito stands for "Adding intelligence (AI) to Auto". This smart SUV is equipped with its system software, industrial design, technology and Harmony ecosystem, and much more.
This car is the first model from the Aito and Seres brands to feature Huawei's cutting-edge technology to bring new experiences to users.
Additionally, the Aito M5 also brings support for PETAL Map, a new onboard map service, which brings the Harmony OS Smart Cockpit Navigation Experience to car owners. This feature allows easy connection of the navigation function between the phone and the vehicle.
At the launch event, Huawei's Head of Consumer Business, Yu Chengdong, said that this model is very capable of performance compared to other brands. In addition, he mentioned that the unveiling of the Aito M5 is one of the biggest achievements of Huawei and Seres.
The Huawei Aito M5 Medium Size SUV is available in three versions and the pre-sale price is priced from 250 thousand yuan (Rp 560 million), 280 thousand yuan (Rp 627 million), to 320 thousand yuan (Rp 717 million).
According to Huawei, the car is displayed and available for pre-order at 180 official Huawei stores in 42 cities in China from December 23, 2021. However, a test drive at 500 Huawei stores in 118 cities will open on January 20, 2022.
