Ferrari Hopes To Give Birth To Female Riders

JAKARTA - Ferrari's ambition to recruit female racers into the Formula 1 team's junior program. They will immediately realize that ambition.

The name Lella Lombardi is the most successful female racer in history who managed to rank sixth in the final standings of the Spanish Grand Prix in 1975. Lombardi is one of the six names of female riders recorded in the official weekend action of the Formula 1 world championship.

The last woman on the Grand Prix record was Susie Wolff. She participated in four training sessions throughout the 2014 and 2015 seasons. Meanwhile, the last woman to try to take part in the Grand Prix was Giovanna Amati. Unfortunately, he failed to qualify for the three races in 1992.

Ferrari itself is now preparing to increase the number of riders in the academy. The move will begin in 2020. Ferrari calls the recruitment of female racing seeds as an investment in the future.

"The academy (drivers) is an important investment for us ... The academy is also looking for women in the future. Women should be part of the Ferrari Racer Academy," said team boss, Mattia Binotto, quoted by Motorsport.com, Friday, December 27.

"This is a world open to everyone. And I hope at some stage a strong young woman will come and destroy the fields. Isn't that something special?" he added.

Ferarri, as it is known, is in a hurry to build seeds through their academy. Charles Leclerc is a successful example of Ferrari developing its seeds through the academy. "That is something that we are working on at the moment to make sure it can happen soon," said Binotto.
